C-BEN's Board of Directors was formed in 2013, and over the next several years, oversaw dozens of higher education institutions and public systems' participation in a research-and-development phase of creating an evidence-based approach to advancing high quality competency-based education. In 2017,C-BEN became its own NPO and opened membership to a larger group of constituencies dedicated to realizing the full potential of competency-based learning. Today, the network is comprised of over 140 colleges, universities, state systems, corporations, service providers and individuals dedicated to realizing the full potential of competency-based learning.
